This illustrated lecture examines news coverage of the 2011 riots and asks, if disorder is seen as a threat, what kind of (social) order is imagined as desirable?

Dr Price is Reader in Media Discourse at De Montfort University and he is Principle Investigator for University funded projects 'Election 2010' and 'Election 2010 Online'. His main field of research, Media Discourse, was designated 'world leading' in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

Kevin will give a review of his experiences of growing up in a care home and of the effects it has had on his adult life. He has had his story broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
He became a teacher and made the transition to become an award winning Master Builder.
