LSS: David Grove - Marx & Morris - why we need them more than ever

Description: Sunday 10th October 6-30pm

Marx & Morris - why we need them more than ever

David writes:
"I shall argue that the account of capitalist society shared by Marx and Morris, and their hope of revolution, offer the most creative way of confronting our present predicament.

"I was born in Liverpool and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College, Oxford. I worked in urban and regional planning in Britain and several other countries. I joined the Communist Party in 1942 and am at present the secretary of the Leicester branch and a member of the Greater Midlands District Committee."

All welcome. Admission free. A collection will be taken.

More about William Morris on our website: http://www.leicestersecularsociety.org.uk/morris.htm
We don't have a page on Marx, but the mutual animosity between him and pioneering secularist Charles Bradlaugh (whose bust and portrait have homes in our Hall) is legendary: http://www.leicestersecularsociety.org.uk/bradlaugh.htm
